paiN beat Case to enter tiebreakers for final Major spot at Americas RMR

paiN will fight for the Antwerp spot against 9z and the winner of Evil Geniuses-Party Astronauts.

In the second match of the 2-2 pool, paiN took down Case to go 3-2 in the Swiss format and enter tiebreakers for the sixth and final Major spot on offer at the Americas Regional Major Ranking tournament.

Due to having the highest Buchholz score (a combined record of previous opponents), paiN will have the first seed going into the tiebreaker matches no matter who wins the final 2-2 match between EG and Party Astronauts.

As such, 9z will first play the victor of EG-PA before paiN face the winning side in a direct match for the Contender spot at PGL Major Antwerp. The 6th-place deciders will take place on Friday, starting at 11:00 .

Lucas "⁠steel⁠" Lopes's team have now been eliminated from contention for a spot at the Major, finishing the Swiss format with a 2-3 record following losses to Imperial, Party Astronauts, and paiN.

It was a straightforward victory in the 2-2 match for paiN, who entered both maps with dominant first halves. Mirage turned out closer than anticipated despite a 11-4 start from Vinicios "⁠PKL⁠" Coelho's side, with Case mounting a respectable comeback attempt only to fall short at the last hurdle. Nuke was a one-sided affair through and through, with a great Terrorist side earning paiN another 11-round half before they closed out the series without breaking a sweat at 16-6.
